Yeah, alcohol. I’ve been drinking from an early age. I used to go to school – because my dad used to make his own alcohol from – well, from birth – from as far back as I can remember. And I used to pinch bottles of that, take that to school and get drunk with the teachers at school. So, yeah, they couldn't say whether it was the alcohol that started it, or whether it was the hepatitis that started it – it’s like they said, the hepatitis is probably drug-induced, because I did have a drug habit for a while, but again they can’t be 100% certain it was even that. You know, it’s just, I’ve got that, or I had it – they’re not 100% certain how I got it, but I did have it, so it was dealt with and now it’s gone, thank God. But not without leaving its marks. Yeah.
Drama teacher. At the time, as I say, I was, it was me, you know – I was like 12 years old and that, always had the drink. And as I say, the drama instructor, drama teacher … what’s his name? You know, like Sow and Frog off the telly – he’s a big bloke, big rosy cheeks, drinks wine all the time and all that. And, well, he just knew straight away that I had drink, and that was that. I’d bring it in every day, and we’d quite happily just sit there in the back of the recording studio, and get drunk [laughs]. Because I didn't go to school – or I didn’t attend school, I should say. My mum and dad had just split up, and I’d done what I wanted to do. And going to school wasn't one of the things that I was into. But as I say, when I did it was drinking with the drama teacher mostly.
Yeah, it’s not good – it can’t be good. It can’t be good. And to think that the teachers – I mean I don't know if I was the only chap – pupil – he got drunk with, I dunno, but yeah, I mean it’s not a good thing. And I certainly couldn't see it happening now. You know what I mean? Because the way schools are with that nowadays – but back then they didn't care if you was at school or what, anyway like. You know I’m talking like 40 year ago, they weren’t that bothered. But … we survived. [laughs] Sort of. Not unscathed, but we survived.
